Deric,

Finding the right doctor, especially one who can assist with inherited traits, can be challenging. When my grandmother asked me to find her a new general practitioner, she wanted someone "who fit like an old shoe." You want a doctor with whom you are comfortable, fits your personality, and is knowledgeable about your condition. Most of us are better at picking cars than choosing doctors.

That said, the Genomic Medicine Institute at El Camino Hospital in nearby Mountain View has a strong program worth exploring. More here: http://bit.ly/x6DQKJ

Best of luck with your search.

I live in Los Gatos, CA, and I'd like to find a good general practitioner who's an expert when it comes to dealing with genetically inherited issues and drugs related to dealing with issues.
How does someone screen for this? Are there any recommendations?
